SERVICE TERMS & CONDITIONS

(Child & Adult Autism Assessment Service)

1. Nature of the service

Glasgow NeuroCare provides private assessments for autism, ADHD and neuropsychological difficulties for children, young people and adults. We may also offer psychological intervention and cognitive rehabilitation where appropriate.

This service is independent of the NHS and Local Authority services.

Assessments involve clinical judgement based on multiple sources of information. While we follow evidence‑based, gold‑standard practice, a diagnosis cannot be guaranteed.

This service is not an emergency or crisis service. If you are concerned about immediate risk to yourself or someone else, you should contact your GP, NHS 24 (111), emergency services (999), or your local mental health crisis team.

Glasgow NeuroCare is not able to provide crisis or emergency mental health support. Where there is active suicidal crisis, acute risk of harm to self or others, or a need for urgent psychiatric care, we may decline, pause or postpone assessment or intervention until appropriate crisis or statutory services have been involved (for example, GP, NHS crisis team, emergency services). In such situations, we will, where possible, signpost or advise on contacting appropriate services. This is to ensure that immediate risk is managed by services equipped to provide urgent care.

2. Assessment Pathway

Assessments are completed in stages and may conclude at different points depending on the information available and clinical judgement.

Stages may include:

  • Questionnaires and information gathering

  • Clinical review of evidence

  • Clinical interview and developmental history

  • Standardised assessment tools (e.g. ADOS‑2) where clinically indicated

  • Integration of findings and a written report

  • Feedback session

Progression to further stages is not automatic and is based on clinical judgement about whether additional assessment is necessary and proportionate.

3. Fees and Payment

Fees are charged per stage of assessment and are clearly outlined in our current fee schedule.

  • Payment is required at least 48 hours prior to each stage commencing, via Stripe.

  • If payment has not been received by this point, the appointment may be cancelled and offered to another client.

  • Payment for earlier stages does not guarantee progression to later stages.

Invoices and receipts will be issued for all payments.

4. Cancellations and Missed Appointments

  • Cancellations must be made with at least 48 hours’ notice.

  • Cancellations with less than 48 hours’ notice, or non‑attendance, may be charged at up to 100% of the fee for that stage, at the clinician’s discretion.

  • If you arrive late, your appointment may need to finish at the scheduled time and the full fee may still apply.

Details of the current cancellation charges are available on request and will be confirmed in your booking information.

5. Reports and Use by Third Parties

Reports are written for the individual and/or their parent/carer and may be shared with schools, GPs, or other professionals with the client’s or parent/carer’s consent.

  • Glasgow NeuroCare cannot guarantee that reports will be accepted by schools, Local Authorities, tribunals or other organisations. Acceptance of reports is at the discretion of those services.

  • Reports must not be altered or edited. If factual errors are identified, we will correct and reissue the report where appropriate.

  • Any summaries or extracts shared with third parties should clearly attribute Glasgow NeuroCare as the author.

6. Limitations

Assessments and diagnostic opinions are based on the information available at the time of assessment.

  • The absence of early developmental information or informant reports (for example in adult assessments) may limit the level of diagnostic certainty and the conclusions that can be drawn.

  • Our assessments do not replace medical evaluation. We do not prescribe medication. Where relevant, we may recommend you discuss findings with your GP, psychiatrist or paediatrician.

  • We cannot provide medico‑legal reports or court / tribunal reports unless this has been explicitly agreed in advance and commissioned on that basis.

7. Data protection, confidentiality and safeguarding

All information is handled in accordance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

  • Your information is stored securely and only accessed by clinicians and staff involved in your care or essential administration.

  • We will normally seek your consent before sharing information with others involved in your care (e.g. GP, school, other professionals).

However, while we aim to keep information confidential, there are some situations where we may need to share information without consent, in line with our legal and professional duties. This includes circumstances where we have concerns about:

  • significant risk of harm to you

  • significant risk of harm to a child or vulnerable adult

  • serious risk to others

  • a legal requirement to disclose information (e.g. court order)

In such circumstances, we may need to contact other agencies, such as:

  • your GP

  • NHS mental health or crisis services

  • social work/social services

  • (in an emergency) the police or emergency services

We will share the minimum necessary information and, wherever possible, will try to discuss this with you first.

Further details about how we use and share information are set out in our Privacy Policy, which should be read alongside these Terms & Conditions.

8. Complaints and professional standards

We aim to provide a high‑quality service. If you are unhappy with any aspect of your care:

  1. Please raise your concerns directly with Glasgow NeuroCare in the first instance so that we can try to resolve the issue informally.

  2. If this is not resolved to your satisfaction, you may escalate your complaint to the relevant professional regulator, for example:

    • Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) for clinical psychologists and allied health professionals

    • British Psychological Society (BPS) for chartered psychologists

Details of registration for individual clinicians are provided in reports and can be supplied on request.
